Precinct CaucusesMeet 1st Tuesday of February in even-numbered years. |
Any eligible voter residing within the precinct may participate. Non-voting guests are allowed to attend. Business includes:
- Electing Convention Delegates and Alternates* to any Senate District, City, and County conventions for the next two years
- Electing Precinct Officers (two-year terms), top two officers become SD40 Republican Committee members
- Proposing resolutions to amend the state party platform.
- Straw polls
* The number of Delegates and Alternates is based on the number of votes cast from the precinct for the Republican candidate in the latest presidential or gubernatorial election.

Consists of Precinct Delegates and Alternates. Business includes:
- Electing U.S. Congressional District Delegates and Alternates (even-numbered years, two-year terms)
- Electing State Convention Delegates and Alternates (even-numbered years, two-year terms)
- Endorsing State Senator and State Representive candidates
- Ratifying resolutions to amend the state party platform (even-numbered years)
- Electing Executive Committee members (two-year terms, odd-numbered years)
- Electing U.S. Congressional Committee Delegates and Alternates (two-year terms, odd-numbered years)
- Electing State Central Committee Delegates and Alternates (two-year terms, odd-numbered years).

SD40 Republican CommitteeMeets at least twice annually (District Conventions count as SD40 Republican Committee meetings). |
Consists of Executive Committee members and the top two officers from each Precinct (usually a Chair and Vice-Chair, or two Co-Chairs).
Business includes campaign activities and ratifying mid-term appointments to the Executive Committee.
