"I cannot sit idly by, while our community is being asked to swallow a huge tax increase by our local representative," said Todd Johnson as he announced his intention to win the legislative seat for Minnesota House District 40A.
Todd currently serves as a director on the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage school board. Education has always been one of his priorities. Recognizing this, Governor Pawlenty appointed him to serve on the Minnesota Board of Teaching, where he currently serves as chairman.
"I am proud of our accomplishments and my contribution to the School Board and its effort to provide a top-notch education for all children," Todd stated. During his time on the board, he has worked to insure strong financial management, continuing improvement in student achievement, closing the achievement gap, strengthening parent involvement in their children's education, and promoting open and honest communication with the community. He also stated that "accountability in areas of taxes, transportation, health & human services, and education is an expectation I hold for myself and so does the community. We cannot continue with piling taxes on more taxes. Our senior citizens and their needs deserve the same level of concern as do our children's schools.
Community involvement is a high priority for Todd in all areas of his life. He has served two terms on the Savage Planning Commission, the Dan Patch Days, and the Burnsville Fire Muster volunteer committees. He is also a member of the Savage and Burnsville Chambers of Commerce. Besides his community service, Todd is a member of Faith Covenant Church, serves in the Bill Glass Prison Outreach Program, and is a lay pastor for the Scott County Jail.
He is the owner/president of Titus Construction, Inc. and is a member of the National Association of Remodelers, the Builders Association of the Twin Cities, and the Remodelers Council. Todd also owns Classic Iron Cars in Savage.
Todd, 48, is married to Diann and is the father of five children; Ryan; Jennifer and Rachel, both attending Burnsville Senior High School; and Blake and Brandon, students at Burnsville Nicollet Junior High.
